Assignment + fire drill

so my frens n I are busy wif our evidence assignment these few days. I really feel like I'm sone CSI investigator or somehow. we are suppose to advice our instructing solicitors bout CCTV and photographic evidence taken at the scene of a demonstration in which a security guard was bashed up by a baseball bat. omg im feeling so bloated now. ya back to coursework. I gotta love doing coursework."end of story."(florence's phrase)

tmr is halloween day! yeepee! I think my frens n I are attending some halloween event. im not really sure yet. we are supposed to get some horn thingy.haha=.=

The city of Oxford is having winter now. this morning we had a fire drill at around 7.30am. Horrifying. Stupid alarm woke me up from my beauty sleep. Not only that, when we gathered outside Paul Kent Hall, it's blardy freeezzzing. Plus strong wind. It's already like 3 degrees. And we went down with our pyjamas with our sleepy face and messy hair. We are forced to *stare at each other* for around 20 minutes.

When I finally went back to sleep, I'm fully awake.

Bro:" ji suan ji."(calculator)
Grandma:"?" " kuai ji?"

The power of research

The time displayed in my phone is currently 1.41pm. So here I am sitting beside my laptop waiting patiently for my second parcel to arrive in Flat R3. For ur information, my parcel was held for more than 10 days, and if my mum did not give me my tracking number for my this parcel yesterday, I anticipate that I would not be able to receive my parcel ever again. How sh*tty is that?

I was doing my research online for some good unis for my postgraduate study. I am planning to do my MBA after my law degree in Oxford Brookes. I have decided to not take the Bar Vocational Course. I seriously do not intend to practise after my attachment in Shook Lin & Bok. Yes, it is entirely different if you actually see the "real" life of a lawyer. It's so different than studying law. Law is in theory a very fascinating and challenging subject to me for the past few years. Unfortunately, it is not that fascinating to me in practical. Not at all. Your life is gonna be all about clients and judges. I'm sick of that. Cos I don't have the passion.

My interests are now devoted solely to the corporate world. I am hypnotized by the career of investment banking. But knowing that the environment is strongly meritocratic, and that weekend work is not unusual, and that investment bankers work up to 100 hours per week, all this are holding me back to enter into the investment bankers' world. I was considering to apply for an internship into any of the investment banking firms' to see how the life there's like. Haha but seeing that I have too much workload, I think better not to.

Back to ALM!

Oh no, I have no idea where my freaking parcel is. I was thinking that I will receive it today, simply bcos I received a note by the postman that he will deliver again tomorrow. Though today was a long day for me, the idea of having my parcel today really brightens my day. So when I get back today, was bout to open my room door, hoping to see a note or smth BIG. Unfortunately, there was nothing.NOTHING.

This is so pissing me off. I wish British mail would be more efficient sometimes. Okay, I'm suppose to upload some pics of the pot luck party in Paul Kent Hall. Thought of updating my readers of the bits and pieces of my life in Oxford city, United Kingdom.

8 more months to go to attain my Honours Degree for Law. Law students are like busy bees. We have to manage 4 subjects for this semester, 2 subjects(commercial law and advanced legal method) are purely based on coursework, criminal evidence consist of 60% examination, last but not least, most students abhor the most- super dry and boring subject, European Union Law-100% examination.

It's sad to say that we love to be spoonfed. Yes, we do despite being a final year undergraduate student. We were so used to it back in Malaysia, even up to tertiary level. Lecturers prepared lengthy notes for all students, and apart from that, classes are not that huge, which only fits up to 50 students the most. In the United Kingdom, we attend lectures in the main hall, where it fits up to nearly 200 students in a class. I have to admit that I'm not used to the system here.

So now, I have to prepare my own notes, prepare for seminars, manage 2 courseworks and prepare for exams this december. Courseworks are gonna due in a few weeks time, and our workload are seriously pilling up. Notwithstanding the fact that we have a four-day weekend, we might take the whole day just to revise/prepare for seminars.

O-K larh. I know I'm the queen of procrastination. But I can't help it. I sleep more than 10 hours during my 4 day weekend(haha!) and tends to videostream everyday. Well, takkan u wanna study the whole day meh? can go crazy one u know! somemore need time to do some shopping leh:)

I can't wait to go back this december! I miss home! I miss malaysian food! I can't believe I'm celebrating Christmas in Malaysia! Hehehehe:)

I'd been studying for seminars next week. Apart from chatting with my parents via msn, i'd been lepaking in oxford city centre n cowley road for the purposes of buying trenchcoats n long sleeves shirts in Primark. Right now I have the cravings for boots. Fashionable boots and fur boats. I now own one of each, and wish to have more.

On top of that, I'm quite proud of myself for being able to cook. Though not really a good chef, I learnt to make spaghetti, pasta, fried pork and supposedly, curry beef. So there am I, trying to remember the ingredients and steps for curry beef, hoping to cook for my family when I'm back in December during my semester break.(considering the fact that I only knew how to boil water a week before before I arrived in United Kingdom).

I have registered for 4 modules this semester. I chose to major in commerical/business law. Therefore, I took up commercial law and criminal evidence this semester apart from the compulsory modules, namely advanced legal method and European Union Law.

I love Commercial Law and Criminal Evidence the most. Advanced legal method is still ok, but I seriously dislike European Union Law. It's so D-R-Y and boring. Too bad it is compulsory.

If u wish to noe more bout my life in UK, here it is.
Most of my frens r chunked into Clive Booth Hall and Cheney Student Village(where both halls are near campus),whereas "we"- jeannie, florence, lit fwu n I are stuck in Paul Kent. Oh ya, huajie is the only one in Crescent Hall, for ur further info.haha.

I was quite upset at first when I was still back home in Malaysia, becos the management gave me a non ensuite room+ it is so far away from campus. But I wish to say now that I felt very very lucky to stay in Paul Kent Hall for the remaining 9 months. Wanna noe y huh? There is at least 4 break ins in Clive Booth Hall every night, and one of the unluckiest gal lost all her money, important documents, laptop n valuables and the most cilaka one, her PASSPORT too. My goodness. Not only that, last week I actually went to see Clive Booth Hall myself.

I do not really like the environment there. The flats are so far apart from the bus stop and u have to walk thru creepy areas like deserted pathways next to hidden jungles n all sorts. I still remembered I once had to walk all my life after dinner in weiyee's cos the pathway that we havta walk thru is REALLY DESERTED N CREEPY. I'm not joking. Jeannie n florence were not even talking as we juz tot of GETTING TO THE MAIN ROAD. Worst still, there's not even a single/mini streetlight near the pathway. I once felt like I'm inside the jungle.

I'm just delighted that I got Paul Kent. The environment is brilliant here. The bus stop is just right opposite our campus with hardly a minute walk. Once we stepped outside the gate of Paul Kent, it's a busy mainroad. So it's kinda safe. Safer than Clive Booth.

On the brighter side, I'm actually adapting myself to communal living. So far there's no problem with the idea of sharing toilet/bathroom as I'm kinda sharing with florence and john. John is always out whereas florence has the same schedule with me. I don't know y we are not short of facilities, maybe is bcos the rest are still asleep when we are awake.haha. I'm glad of that actually.

By the way, I'm suffering from a serious cough right now. I hope I will recover ASAP.
