Happenings during month of March '09

So my interview with Zaid Ibrahim will be on the 31st of March at UCL, London.

OMG.

I was cooking glass noodles for dinner, Sarah and Gil was disgusted by the way glass noodles looks like. They thought that I am eating "long worms!".

Hilarious.

So dad was advising me (long-winded advise) bout the dos and don'ts about interviews.

But nothing goes into my head.

Maybe is because I am drowsy.

Nowadays I keep on watching ANTM after not watching it for a very loooooooong time.

My favourite contestants are Caridee & Jaslene(she has great personality), Melrose, Sheena & Anchal & AJ(amazingly beautiful).

My favourite judges of the show are Nigel Barker and of cos Tyra herself.

Btw Nigel Barker's wife looks like Maggie Q right?!

I was telling the mother that mother's day is on 2 days time.

She was absolutely shocked that mother's day falls at the end of March. She always believed that it's on the month of May.

But UK is celebrating mother's day on sunday what!

Mum,

HAPPIEEEEEEE MUM'S DAY!

Always love you,

-minyuen-

Mum, guess what, I took a quiz that says: what were you during your past life?

And my results turned out to be : Queen Elizabeth I.

Absolutely ridiculous.

I had an extremely bad day this morning cos of menstrual cramps, and its 10am. I had to take one tablet of painkiller, and went back to bed until 4pm. I never slept that long before.

The schedule for our finals is out now, and I have exams on the 11th, 14th and 16th of May if not mistaken. So I have roughly one month plus more before finals. I skipped lessons today and also for the past few weeks, still hoping that I will perform well.

Might be going down to London this saturday again to accompany weiyee for her interview for Inner Temple's scholarship for BVC course. Not too sure yet.

Btw, my predictions are accurate, and I'm very delighted about it.

16/03/2009

The Monday on this week is not any typical Monday blues I had in Oxford. It's not always often
to enjoy mondays!

Jeannie and I standing outside the entrance of the Oxford Castle. The other two just do not wanna be inside the photos.
The place is rather quiet and serene though it's located in the city centre, and what surprises me is that there are not many people there.

We just thought that since we are gonna leave Oxford in just another two months, it's worthwhile to travel around Oxford for the sake of remembrance. Moreover we have travelled London and Birmingham, but not the place that we are currently residing in.

First Destination : Oxford Castle

It only cost one pound to come uphill. At first, we were reluctant to cos' we thought it would cost about 20 pounds per entry as there's a passcode on the gate. Then we saw an elder couple coming down and we probably thought that it's free to enter. So we eventually did "passed through" cheekily for 3 seconds when we were called up by the people in charge there. *wow they have really sharp eyes!*

The view is-I could not describe in words. It's breathtaking as the weather is so chilling cos spring is very near, and we could see the whole City Centre from there. It is like an organized maze. The buses on the road, the crowd, the endless outlets surrounding the area, it just fits in rightly into my eyes. It's just so different when you are picturing yourself as one of the "mini people" walking down there.

We spent approximately one hour there. Ya some of you might think it's ridiculous, that we are digging some gold there.

Lit Fwu rang Darrel up and here we are : The Prestigious Oxford University.

This is my second time being here. The first time I stepped into Oxford Uni was October 2008 with Marcus and the gang. Now that I think back time really flies. The security was stricter back then, that Darrel took quite long to negotiate with the guard for us the (Brookes) student to be permitted to enter to the Oxford Uni.

Darrel showed us around Oxford Uni. Basically Oxford Uni reminds me of those historical buildings that have implied meanings behind each and every part of the structure of it, though I don't know exactly what those meanings are.

We then went up to Darrel's room, which is located just opposite the Main Library. His room is as huge as my present room in Paul Kent Hall, or maybe slightly bigger, with a mini fridge inside, bathroom but only has a sink, closed door wardrobe, and a tiny desk at the corner with chess on it.

We then left at 3pm cos Darrel is leaving to London at 3.30pm.

After sending Darrel off, Lit fwu wanna go punting. And the girls agreed.

At first, Lit fwu decided to punt the long flat boat. But it was harder that he thought, and he freaked all of us out. The boat was so bumpy+ unstable all the way, it seems like we are going to flip over anytime soon because our boat keep knocking edges, going opposite sides etc. Jeannie and I was so tensed that we hold on to each other and grabbed the sides of the boat, while weiyee, remaining calm (she admitted later that she was pretending to be calm! haha) taught us to balance the boat all the way back to the "port", that we decided to ask the expert to punt.

It took about one hour and it was an enjoyable one. I don't think I experienced this before.

We had liquor again for dinner.

This time, it's Vodka Smirn-Off with 38% alcohol contained inside.

I was the lucky number 1 to have straight 5 shots after losing the game. The taste of this wine is slightly bitter than Tequilla, but it's more syok than tequilla (cos Tequilla is sweet and chilling). But then again, it's not as worse as Royal Salute/ Gordon Blue.

Then Jeannie drank straight 3 shots after me, followed by Lit Fwu. They could not take the bitterness and had to mix it with one full chunk of Lemonade, haha! It's so fun watching people drinking wine sometimes, cos they don't know how to appreciate the bitterness of it, in which they suffer in return.

Then I was punished again and I drank my 6th shot. Weiyee lost once but we spared her not to drink as she did not want to even touch one drip of it. So we made her do prank calls, and she had to prank call marcus and weichao. This is damn hilarious cos weichao actually got pranked!

I had my 7th shot before I went back to my room, not because I lost the game, but is because Jeannie wants me and lit fwu to "teman" her drink. What a word to use when you don't wanna drink alone. So we did, see how good we are to our Jeannie Chong.

Then Carlos joined in!

That's a rep.

Toodles~

Birmingham + Xian

I never expected so much response as a result of sending my CV to the UKEC fair.

I got another one from Petronas. But this is not any formal interview request, just a networking night which is going to be held in the Great Hall, London at end of this month, if not mistaken.

I still haven't made up my mind bout the invitation from Zaid Ibrahim, and I got another email just 2 days later asking me to respond to it.

I just got back from Birmingham last night. Freaking exhausted. I was feeling dizzy and nauseous inside the bus on our way back to Oxford.

I guess the reason is due to the non-stop uphill&downhill walking in Birmingham. Nevertheless it was lots of fun with firdaus, jonathan and lit fwu around (the great entertainers).

They were saying Birmingham would make a great CS map. And I absolutely agree to it!

I didn't take any photos of it, but it somehow looks like de dust2, the road where we were walking to the Mailbox.

And the guys had the intention to enter Legs 11.

More photos on facebookie.

My girlfriends n I bought the exact same jacket from H & M. Weiyee n I got the white one, while jeannie got the black one.

We look so cute together wearing the jackets today in lectures.

Oh ya, we went to Xian again after arriving in Oxford around 8pm.

Then we discovered Firdaus is extremely terrified of lizards, mouse and snakes. (same goes to me and my girlfriends)

The funniest part is, firdaus hold onto jeannie when the boss brought the lizard wine to our table.

Apparently he got a great adrenalin flush on his entire body when he saw the dead lizard staring at him.

I have to admit that it's horrifying.

The boss just can't get enough, and wanted to frighten me when we walking at the Bar.

I didn't know it's a fake snake inside the cloth.

Weiyee and I ran outside when he brought the "snake" towards us.

LOl.

=p

I'm gonna miss them after graduation.

God help me.

Interview Invitation by...

I got a job interview.

I was so excited.

But it was from Zaid Ibrahim.

Speechless.

I thought it was from UK.

Fun weekend

Today I skipped d lecture n seminar for employment law. The reason is this: cos I wanna attend career's fair.

So I was up from my bed at 8am, turned on my lappie, n browsed through the organisations that are attending the job fair in Cheney Lane, Sports Bar. I was not nervous at all, cos this is not an interview or anything formal, whereas they are actually here to approach students informally, and they are paying to do this.

But the fact that they are here is to recruit new staff here makes me excited. Cos yea, I wanna work here.

I actually bought a new pair of heels just for this fair cos I didn't bring any of my heels here. So I went downtown hunting for a new pair of fomal heels. My first stop was L.K.Bennett. My God just a plain OL heel cost 120 pounds. But no doubt, the material inside is as soft as animal's skin. Made of extremely good quality. But I'm not willing to pay so much for a pair of shoe.

So I walked further, and my second stop is clarks. The pricing there is much more reasonable, and I heard that many of my peers used to buy their boots there. Indeed I managed to get a pair that I like, and most importantly, it suits for today's purpose-career's fair.

Paying 60 pounds for it, I wore it to London, thought that it wouldn't hurt as much as the boots that I wore during the previous trip. It was really comfortable at first, and I was very pleased:p

But the moment when I get down from the Oxford Tube, heading to Victoria Railway Station, my feet started to ache slowly. When I reached Victoria Railway Station, the pain was worst. When I finally met my bro at Victoria Railway, we headed to Westfield for lunch.

Then my feet started killing me. I think my posture was really really bad cos it hurt so much that my feet had a few blisters now.

That's the reason why I don't like heels. But I wore it because Im tired of wearing sport shoes. (and also when you are walking on the streets, you see those girls having nice heels, it gets on your mind.)

It's been one month plus since I met my bro. I had an enjoyable trip after all despite certain incidents=)

Besides, I need a break from the boring weekend:p

I reached Paul Kent Hall at 5.20pm yday, took a bath, and rushed out again for dinner at Jamie Italian's together with Lit Fwu, Jeannie and Firdaus.

Not even a slightest clue

It's been almost half a year for me staying in the United Kingdom. There's gonna be only 2 more months before finals-of-my-last-ever-semester of me studying.

Upon completion of my LLB, I will start to look for a permanent job preferably in the United Kingdom. (or else I will just be a non-active shareholder in my dad's company haha;)

There's a career's fair coming up on Monday. I have attended the workshop on preparation for this event hoping that I will get a contract signed during that day itself (man I am just dreaming too much!) haha will I actually impress the prospective employers to this extent? -.-

Weiyee had left this morning for Newcastle cos she had an interview for scholarship for the bvc course. All the best babe! XD

I will be making a trip to London tomorrow and most probably will also spend the night there. Though London is always as packed as ever, that freaking place has lots of events! So I wanna chill out first before I fight for my last battle for a target of- at least a second class upper for my LLB.

The weather in Oxford had varied considerably. I recently thought that since Spring is drawing closer, I only wore one layer of clothing these days. However, the weather during this week is as cold as winter! Apparently it's 0 degree celcius.

N...

During April last year, it actually SNOWED.

SNOWING during spring!

My God the weather here is pretty unpredictable.

Just a blink of any eye, lectures are gonna end soon for my last semester. Man I still remember my first day in United Kingdom. Utterly depressed, sad, homesick, lonely, utmost breakdown etc. I guess probably I wasn't ready to leave my parents' cocoon yet. So now, I had grown matured a little.

Man I am so proud of myself:(

A variety of problems had arised during these few months here, which I would not elaborate here.

But I would like to share one of it here=p

How could a person change so much?

I mean, I have learnt the fact that people will change over the years.

This is normal to me, but in this case, this person just all-of-a-sudden turned evil from my perspective point of view.

So evil that is unbearable.

Conclusion: People are just as unpredictable like the weather in United Kingdom.

Nevertheless, just like the sudden change of weather here which is temporary, just treat this person as "temporary".

Xi'an

I almost caused the trigger. FIRE ALARM.

I was using the toaster and I left it for like 5 mins, and the next thing I know, the kitchen's smokey. Thank God there's no fire alarm in R block.

By the way, my frens just gotta know which bar school they are admitted into. To those who are satisfied over the results, congratulations! h/ever to those who are not delighted with it, don't give up! there's second round coming up! NEVER SAY NEVER.

I was reading my admin.law textbook when firdaus chatted with me on msn, asking to come to paul kent hall and lepak with us. Hola how long we didnt hang out wif ya firdaus?

We couldn't decide which restaurant to dine to, so weiyee suggested her workplace.

Fine dining with reasonable pricing.

Manhattan and melon finz cocktails.

BFF forever.

Us with the joker Firdaus!
